In order to be granted a Private Medical Treatment Visit Visa, you will need to satisfy UK Visas and Immigration that you are a genuine visitor. This means that you:
- Will leave the UK at the end of your visit
- Will not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home
- Are genuinely seeking entry for a purpose that is permitted by the visitor routes and will not undertake any prohibited activities
- Have sufficient funds to cover all reasonable costs in relation to your visit without working or accessing public funds
- You must have arranged your private medical treatment before you travel to the UK
- Provide a letter from your doctor or consultant detailing the medical condition requiring consultation or treatment, the estimated costs, likely duration of any treatment (which must be of a finite duration) and where the consultation or treatment will take place.
In addition to some other requirements of the Private Medical Visit Visa you must be able to show that they do not intend to take paid or unpaid employment, provide services directly to members of the public, take course of study or do any of the activities of a business, sports or entertainer visitor.
In certain circumstances you may be able to extend your stay as a visitor of private medical treatment or switch to another category, subject to the updated Immigration Rules.
